“Sustainability has gone from a nice-to-do to a must-do.” – Steve Howard, Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA
Over the past couple of years, it has become evident that global powerhouse, IKEA, is committed to the wellbeing of our planet. Kicking off their People & Planet Positive initiative in 2013, IKEA has continually demonstrated their dedication to this sustainability strategy. For example, since 2013, the company has made every effort to support sustainability and the environment by installing solar panels on IKEA buildings across the globe, and committing to owning and operating several hundred wind turbines. IKEA even pledged $1.13 billion USD towards climate action earlier this year.
The below TED Talk, presented by Steve Howard, IKEA’s chief sustainability officer, touches on the reasoning behind many of IKEA’s environmental commitments. In the video Howard discusses IKEA’s commitment to selling sustainability and explains why it is so important. Furthermore, Howard believes that sustainability and sustainable products do not equal compromise. Watch the full presentation below.
