Go green this holiday season with gift giving practices that will help protect our environment.
An inspiring advertising campaign by Metro Vancouver has the city encouraging friends and family to give each other gifts that will create memories rather than waste.
If you live in Vancouver or in the Lower Mainland in British Columbia, you may have come across advertising for the Metro Vancouver campaign, Create Memories, Not Garbage. As an initiative that has been around for the past couple of years, the Create Memories, Not Garbage campaign’s goal is to encourage people to give their friends and families gifts that won’t create waste.
With plenty of suggestions on how you can create memories rather than garbage this year, the Metro Vancouver website encourages visitors a to become Green Angels over the holidays by sending a free e-card, or purchasing presents that involve experiences, such as a ski pass, rather than tangible gift items. The site also offers advice on how you can decorate and prepare food, for the plethora of holiday gatherings that this season brings, without creating unnecessary waste.
The campaign provides an inspiring message that serves to remind us that the holidays aren’t just about large purchases and costly gifts. Join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #GreenAngel.
