Understand your energy bill and know exactly where your money is going.
It’s true that whether you are looking at your household or commercial electricity bill, the bottom line is what you look for when examining your bills. However, we think it’s just as important to understand everything on your bill that has led to the sum at the bottom.
Luckily the Ontario Energy Board has a great explanation of what is going on in your bill. If you are on a time of use (TOU) pricing plan, there are several charges you will see on your bill and they what they are may not necessarily be obvious.

The electricity section is detailed and broken down according to peak hours of the day, but clearly, there is more to those prices and rates than meets the eye. As you’ve most likely seen on your own bills, electricity charges aren’t the only numbers that appear on your bill. What of the delivery charges? And what is the difference between the electricity charges and the regulatory charges? What is the debt retirement charge?
