Majority of Ontarians and many business leaders on board with Ontario cap and trade system.

As you may recall, last month the Ontario government announced that it would be joining the province of Quebec in a cap and trade agreement to help our nation lower greenhouse gas emissions. Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne has been leading the charge in this initiative, alongside Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard, with the intention of reducing the building emissions that inevitably contribute to climate change.

While skeptics of the agreement initially voiced their opinion that the cap and trade system was just a tax grab, The Globe and Mail reports that statistics show that two-thirds of Ontario residents support the cap and trade plan.

Many business leaders appear to also be on board with the cap and trade system. As The National reports below, environmentalists and business leaders met last month to learn more about Ontario’s cap and trade plan, with many expressing their positive and optimistic views regarding the agreement.
