Discover the 15 year endeavour that has resulted in Starbucks producing 99% ethically sourced coffee.
Starbucks has partnered with Conservation International in an effort to produce 100% ethically sourced coffee.
With 99% of its coffee currently being ethically sourced, Starbucks has visibly committed to being a company that is, as the below video puts it, sustainable, transparent and beneficial for people and the planet.
Together with Conservation International, Starbucks has dedicated the past decade and a half to producing 100% ethically sourced coffee. Currently only one percent away from their goal, Starbucks is the largest coffee retailer to reach this milestone.
Since their journey began, Starbucks has achieved much within a relatively short period of time, positively affecting one million farmers across four different continents, including North America, South America, Africa and Asia. For example, it only took Starbucks four years to go from 14.5% in 2004, to 77% in 2008.
In the pursuit of making a difference on a global scale for our planet, Starbucks has committed to completing that final percent, hoping to be a 100% ethically sourced coffee retailer in the future. Admirable in its achievement thus far, however, it is very inspiring to see an organization, especially one of Starbucks’ size that is recognized as a world leader, take such initiative.
